  • “A man who fears nothing is a man who loves nothing; and if you love nothing, what joy is there in your life?” –Arthur

  • What a short break…….

  • One should not nap before a midterm. Half an hour late but I finished! How I did is probably another story….

  • Bowling with my sis

I was up to my last frame while bowling with my sister and Ted tonight on Staten Island.
My previous attempt at a strike knocked everything but the front two pins…. and I constantly sucked with my straight shots the whole game while my sister kept hitting anything requiring a straight shot (like her last straight toss of the ball).
As I was going down the lane, my sister chips in with her comment : “You can be straight too.”
Needless to say I missed because I was laughing my butt off as well along with them.

  • I never realized the amount of effort it takes to wake up little kids… (*discounting the banned basic training wake up techniques)
Know how much my mom put up with when trying to wake me back then and even now

  • Oh how I appreciate my Zzzzzs now.

  • So yesterday I went with Emil, Jason and Chris to see Lwin’s family.

We talked to his mom, dad, and brother. Recounting the memories we had with him. One of the moments shared was a time when he and his brother was drinking when their parents knocked on the door in their room. Lwin immediately shoved the his bottle under his shirt. His brother looked over at him quizzically and asked, “What about the other 20 bottles on the floor in front of you?”. Lwin replied unfazed with “Let’s just tell them … that’s from last time.” We all cracked up since this was the part of Lwin that made us all love him for being him.

They all were proud of what their son had done over in Iraq, but it was sad to note how in the end… everyone but a few forgot about the loss of Lwin and the others so quickly. I remember asking our unit many times for the places where our guys were buried so I can pay my respects. As of this moment, the places that I do know of have been gotten by asking my buddies and still no reply yet.

It’s easy to see how some willingly lose themselves to the alcohol when we recounted those days and it hasn’t even been 2 yrs since we’ve gotten back. In a sense we all want to share these experiences yet self consciously burrow it all deep inside ourselves.

Anyways, more about Lwin. He was Burmese, one of the most cheerful guys about no matter the situation. His sincerity gained the trust of everyone he met, his follow-up on promises and dedication to whatever the job only served to sear unwavering bonds of friendship with all those he met.

I am glad to be his friend.

  • So on Saturday, I did the Light the Night event @ Staten Island on Midland Beach.
    Thanks for those who donated!

Fan & Tsui joined me for the nice walk + moongazin.. very puuuurty indeed.
Too bad my camera couldn’t capture it in all it’s glory.

Afterwards I met up with Eric and Co. to celebrate Zhen’s 19th birthday.
Very light boozing and mostly enjoying the great night on the boardwalk/beach.
There was a little racing action that had my brakes all in smokes but at least we’re all in 1 piece
We finished up with some White Castle before calling it a night.

Pics up when I get home… I keep forgetting to bring my sd card reader…

  • Happy Bday Zhen!

As for my life… it seems every time I feel my life goes 1 step forward, I get dragged 3 steps back.
Time to use the get out of jail free card.
