Grocery shopping just hasn’t been the same since…
On a side note, I’ve been gettin 5 hrs of sleep a day!! woohooo +1 hr than usual!
I’ve finally been able to
locate and pay respects to his resting place in Middletown,
Connecticut.
His location is at the Middletown Veterans Cemetery
on Bow Lane.
Section 70 and Plot G 22.
The place has a dull clean
sterile look to it in sharp contrast to the vibrant man himself.
Irizarry was very full of
life and always tried to bring out the positive in any situation (such as being in Iraq). He treated
everyone fairly and helped anyone who needed assistance.
He was like a father to me
when I first joined my unit. He taught me everything I didn’t learn from basic
and made sure my life adjustment was smooth. Our age difference did not hinder
our respect for one another.
The news of his passing away
was met with much sorrow and mourning by all.
We were able to catch those
who set off the explosive device and send them to prison, but I feel no victory…
for we have lost a great individual.
He had so much awaiting him and was more deserving to live than most others who came back alive.
Worst of all , he never got to see his family or friends again since departing overseas and was suppose to return to the US for 2 weeks leave in only a week or two more.

Commuting parking at Stony Brook sucks!
These days I find myself squeezing my car between the vehicles of drivers who can’t do 90 degree parking at all. They seem to enjoy leaving 4-5 ft between themselves and coming in from all sorts of angles.
Luckily I’m still skinny enough to squeeze myself out after. I’ll try to post a pic later on.
Sept 11 is THE date which affected everyone.
For me it has definitely changed my life in many ways.
It was a date which many remember for the courage and spirit of those who banded together in order to help others.
But I will never forget the seldom mentioned ugliness of mankind on 9/11.
I do not refer to the terrorists (who should not ever be mentioned so no remnants of them are left in history), but to the individuals (civilians, military personnel, emergency, nypd, firemen.. etc.) who were looting, vandalizing, and busy taking memorable pictures for sale or personal collection.
How do I know? Cause I’ve seen them do so. It’s sad since their very actions tarnish the purity of those who gave all for others. There were also the stupid photographers who snuck past the guards to take pictures inside the body bags, the photographer caught dressed up as a cop, and the different organizations fighting each other for the prestige of being the saviors of 9/11. Money, power, and fame. Foundations for corruption.
I’m proud for what I was able to do for the following week and half afterwards tho’ I wish I could have done more at that time. I feel a lot of time, manpower and available resources was wasted instead of being well spent.
Which is why everytime I hear of 9/11, I feel pride, sorrow, pity, and especially anger.
